Commercial Submersible Pumps

Commercial Submersible pumps are ideal for storm water and waste water applications. A submersible pump has different designs dependent on the application. Usually there will be a difference in impeller design for storm water or sewage/effluent water.  There are also situations where they may be an additional grinder in cases where there is heavy debris.  Most standard applications will require a 2”, 4”, 6” or 8” discharge installation.  A submersible pump will usually be fully submerged in liquid within the wet well.  There is also a type that is called a dry pit submersible.  The motor horsepower will usually vary depending on the flow requirements.  Standard horsepower models will be: 1/2HP, 3/4HP, 1HP, 2HP, 3HP, 5HP, 7.5HP, 10HP, 15HP, 20HP and up through 100HP.

These pumps have different types of impellers depending on the application.  Most commonly these pumps will come with an S-Vane, Vortex or Channel impeller.  S-Vane and Vortex impellers are great for solids handling applications.  Channel impellers are ideal for storm water applications.

Submersible pumps will sit completely within the wet well.  They will also come with various impeller combinations depending on the required application.  These pumps can also come with a guide rail installation that allows for quick disconnect from the discharge flange that would be mounted at the bottom of the lift station pit.  If the application does not require a guide rail assembly the discharge line will be connected to the pump and will usually exit the wet well and install to a check valve above the pump basin cover.  These pumps can be outfitted with a mechanical seal fail sensor that will lock out the pump during a failure.

Pump power cables are of standard length based on model number.  There are instances that require longer power cables, this must be stated at the time of order.  Voltages are standard either 115V/1PH, 230V/1PH, 208V/3PH, 230V/3PH or 460V/3PH.  Required Voltage must be stated at the time of order.  Submersible pumps are wired to the exact voltage and phase.
